Obituary of Katharine B. Utzinger

Katharine B. Utzinger, 89, passed away at Morristown Memorial Hospital on November 2, 2010. Born in Plainfield, N.J. on August 23, 1921 the daughter of Ralph and Mabelle Witt Bingaman. Katharine graduated from Plainfield High School and Endicott College Beverly, MA. She has resided in Basking Ridge since 1972, and previously lived in Haddonfield, and Convent Station N.J. She was a member of the DAR and was a volunteer with the American Red Cross during World War II. Mrs. Utzinger will be remembered by her friends and family as a devoted wife, mother and loyal friend. Katharine was a animal lover, avid reader and expert knitter. Surviving are her three children K. Louise Utzinger, Gladstone, NJ, Sally Jean Utzinger- Brown, San Antonio, TX, and Robert Carlton Utzinger, Jr, Ironia, NJ four grandchildren, Robert (Bobby) Carlton Utzinger III, Rebecca (Becky) Utzinger, William (Billy) Utzinger and Taylor Brown. She is also survived by her beloved dog LuLu. She was predeceased by her husband Robert Carlton Utzinger and a sister Phoebe Witt Bingaman. A funeral service will be held on November 5, 2010 at 10 am at the Gallaway and Crane Funeral Home, 101 South Finley Ave, Basking Ridge. Interment will take place at the Hillside cemetery in Scotch Plains at 3pm.
