Obituary of Shane Michael Brennan
Shane Michael Brennan of Basking Ridge passed away May 1, 2015. Shane was born in Rockville Centre, NY on June 14, 1957 and was a resident of Somerset County for 53 years. A gifted and talented carpenter, he owned his own business for many years. Among his many attributes, Shane was known for his numerous random acts of kindness. Not one to boast or brag about his generosity, he never failed to help someone in need. When he lived in Peapack he would make it a point to bring his homemade soup to the township work crews out plowing the snow from the streets. Another time he came to know an older gentleman whom he saw walking to get his paper and coffee in the mornings. Noticing one freezing cold morning, the gentleman did not follow his normal routine Shane made it a point to deliver his paper and coffee personally. That was Shane. For those who knew him, it's also not surprising that his favorite holiday was April Fool's Day. His family and friends always dreaded but thoroughly enjoyed whatever prank he was going to pull. He truly was the family prankster. Shane raised Labrador Retrievers and loved being outdoors. He loved the ocean, especially Rhode Island, and was an avid birdwatcher. His sense of style was unparalled. You could always count on Shane to be the best dressed man at whatever function he attended. He was predeceased by his parents Joseph and Carolann Brennan. He is survived by his beloved daughter Molly Lee Hernandez Avellan and her husband Arturo. He also leaves behind his sisters and brothers, Joseph (Robin) Brennan, Kerrie (George) Diebold, Timothy (Melissa) Brennan, Catherine Brennan, Ryan (Rhonda) Brennan and Daniel (Delonica) Brennan. In addition are his nieces, nephews; Sean (Jennifer) Brennan, R. Todd Brennan, Daniel (Shannon) Brennan, Travis Diebold, Caitlyn Diebold, Christopher Brennan, Michael (Jen) Brennan, Kyle Brennan, Lauren Brennan and Justin Brennan and his grandnieces Bridget Brennan and Kyleigh Brennan. Shane was one of a kind and will be sorely missed.
