Found out today from a mutual friend of Shane's passing. I will never forget the times Shane and I spent hanging out together. We painted his parents house, we were not professionals. We listened to Cheech and Chong in his room and giggled, well ... like teenagers. He took me to the Hamptons, dug our own clams and drank someone else's beer in secret. I can say we endured several rounds of golf with each other not because the golf was bad but because it was possible to laugh your ass off through 18 holes.
Shane gave me much comfort with just a few words upon my brothers passing. I won't forget that. Rest in peace Shane.

Moved from Delaware in 1968. Shane was the first guy I met at Cedar Hill. He dumped my books. At 14 he talks me into taking my grandfather's 1967 Mustang for a joy ride into the Bernardsville Mountains. Dude teaches me how to drive. Comes to California in 1986 and is in my wedding. From Southard Park with his Black Lab Clancy to the Allman Brothers to California, dude taught me how to laugh. What a childhood. We all miss your wit. The funniest person I have ever met. RIP Shane

To the Brennan Family,
I am shocked and deeply saddened to hear about Shane. He was a friend, a great friend and one who will be deeply missed. I have so many memories and stories about our days growing up in Basking Ridge, that I wouldn't know where to start. I am sorry to have missed his funeral and wake. today was the first I had heard. Shane had good heart and I'm sure he is in a better place.

My relationship with Shane was generally in the context of our two great families, Brennan's and McCarthys, brought together by Missy and Tim, but having forged great friendships of our own. Our parents were dear friends, and we often shared great times at reunions, tailgates, Easters, and whenever else we could get together, hoist a few, maybe sing a song. Now Shane is back where the real party is going on!

Our heartfelt condolences to all family members. Shane was one of our oldest son's best friends and as such we saw him quite a bit. He did a number of carpentry jobs at our house in Bernardville and we were always pleased with the care and skill he used in the completion of those projects. He use to bring his lab over when he was working and we loved to see her too.

Crazy to hear of Shane's passing. I have run into him occasionally around the area over the past 20+ years and we always catch up on the various people he sees and I see that we both know. Always a lot of laughs and he was always genuinely interested in how my family and everybody else was doing. I spent many summer days after high school with him building additions and decks for "The Bunge" and he taught me many things about carpentry that I still use today - I think of him every time I "set the depth!" (I still hear his voice) on my power saw. He was one of a kind and I'll truly miss seeing him around. Hope your family is holding up during this tough time.

I don't like the idea of a world without Shane in it. He was a great friend to me and many, always there for you, supportive, funny, heartfelt.
Shane once looked up at me when we were both about 17 and said: "Jimmy, there's nothing better than a good laugh."
"Nothing, Shane?" I said (with that heh-heh teen-aged 'I can think of one thing.')
"Nothing," he confirmed, and you know something, he was right.
I'm going to remember the good times and the laughs!

The news of Shane's passing has disturbed me beyond compare; the best friend anyone could have, funny and sincere, the most giving of souls. I can not think of Shane without smiling at the hilarious times we shared both during and post-high school. Whether skiing in Vermont, "night" skiing in NJ, enjoying the GIANTS football home games, the Far Hills Races, visiting him in Long Valley, attending his parent's Christmas parties in Basking Ridge, or just hanging out in Chester, Bernardsville, Manhattan or Peapack-Gladstone at his home; these will always be cherished memories. So now, be on alert, with Shane in Heaven, we can all anticipate one of Shane's pranks when we arrive there to laugh with him again. My sincere heartfelt condolences to all who knew him and his extended family, he is missed...-Marshall
