Dave, without YOU, we may never have been so involved in the AACA so thank you. Thank you for keeping the joy in the hobby with your decency, respect for all and the fun you carried with you.
You will be greatly missed but you left the hobby a legacy with your family.

Dad, they day finally came that we had to part. The day you were diagnosed ripped me apart. You saw the fear in my eyes and told me you believe that everyone is given a number we just don't know when and to be strong. I walked besides you to every visit to every surgery with my last nerves, however the strength, dignity and courage you showed me has given me more strength then you will ever know. I wouldn't have missed a day. We had lots of good times, made a lot of new friends and gathered with old friends. The best thing is everyone tells me I am just like you and you knew that I didn't miss a beat. My eyes were on you dad. I am hoping now your eyes are on me. I take great pride in having the dad I had. No matter where you went everyone loved my dad. Remember your promise to be my biggest angel. Memories are forever. Love you more. ❤️V. We miss you so much already. Sven and Vicki

So deeply saddened at the loss of Dave. I will always remember him as a hard working, caring and loving family man, friend and neighbor n Peapack. I still remember his laugh and sense of humor. Especially being stuck up on the Ferris Wheel with him on our two family's trip to Great Adventure years ago. Both of us so afraid of heights. Dave looking skyward and saying, "I'll be good, Lord, just get me down and out of here." Still can picture it and makes me laugh to this day. My heartfelt condolences to you, Brenda, Vicki, Kristi, and family.

Opa, for 29 years I was fortunate &'blessed to have you in my life as my grandfather, mentor, & best friend! The last two and a half years have been hard as I watched you take on and battle this challenge. You stood tall, proud, strong, and dedicated at every up and down. I know that every challenge I may face you will be there guiding me in the right direction. I'll miss you and love you every day! Rest in peace big guy... Love "Junior G-Man" Leif Hans

My best friend Dave
When I came home at 8 weeks old, you offered me a belly rub and a treat. Ever since, you and I had a true man and K-9 friendship. I visited you often. We spent our time together shaking paws and me rolling over for a bone.
I missed you when you went away. I waited and stood guard across the street watching over our favorite spot in front of the garage. I will always remember your engine grease scent, gentle rubs and delicious treats.
In my k-9 world, it is understood that a dog's best man goes straight to heaven.
Rest in peace my friend.

Dave served as my Vice President when I was National President of the Antique Automobile Club of America. He went on to be a truly great President, himself, the next year. He, I and our wives bonded from the very first time we met, and he was a dear friend and strong supporter of mine forever. I will miss him greatly. When he said something, his word was his bond. He was thoughtful, honest, devoted to Brenda, his children and grandson. What more could you ask of a man. A Man, yes, he was truly a Man's Man, fully stand up all the way. The way he fought his illness was a lesson to us all on how to stand up and be a Man. God bless you Dave Zimmerman, peace be with you, and to Brenda, his devoted wife, stay with us, we all love you and need you. Earl & Judy Beauchamp

This world and our bobby has lost another of its great leaders. Dave was a great guy and I, along with many will miss him terribly, but I will cherish the wonderful memories he leaves behind. Go be at rest my great friend, with my love and a great big hug, "want it or not" (Dave's and my inside joke) - JudyBad, "the hug lady"

Our thoughts and prayers go out to Brenda and the entire Zimmerman clan.
My association and friendship with Dave goes back many years in the NJ Region AACA. I enjoyed my friendship with him during our VP/Pres stints in the mid-90’s, and also for the great guidance and exemplary work he performed on my Corvettes. While he was a true FORD man, he loved them all.
May God Bless him and give strength to Brenda and the family during this difficult time. Dave is at rest in the arms of angels, his tools by his side. He will be sorely missed.

We would like to pass along our deepest sympathies to Brenda and all of Dave's family. We first met Dave & Brenda in the late '80's when we were just getting into the Mustang hobby. He took us under his wing and introduced us to the hobby and people in it as if he had known us for years. I would like to think he saw something special in me but the truth is he was like that with everyone. He became my mentor in the hobby and together we helped start the Garden State Region Mustang Club. We would follow he & Brenda to shows all over the country and he would introduce us to new people at every location. His honesty, knowledge, respect & enthusiasm within the hobby was known far & wide. As President & Board member of the GSRMC I would find myself thinking WWDD (What would Dave do?) to help me make the tough decisions. I will remember his passion for the hobby and his love & devotion for Brenda, Kristi, Vicki & Leif. Rest in peace Dave.

My deepest sympathy to "Auntie" Brenda and the Zimmerman family. I had the pleasure of meeting these great people thru my parents, Earl and Judy, on the Gettysburg Tour. Liked "Uncle" Dave's sense of humor with my folks. What a fighter he has been. Rest in Peace. Ginny

Our heartfelt sympathies go to Brenda, Leif, and all the extended family. Our world is a better place for Dave having been a participant, and certainly AACA has gained from his involvement. Dave always reminded me how much he enjoyed our Division Tour in Houma, Louisiana. When Dave encouraged me to consider serving on our National AACA Board, his advice, per Janet Ricketts, was to always do what was best for the AACA Membership.
Rest in peace, my friend,

Dave was among those who I considered my inner circle of friends in H.S. We hunted together and did all sorts of weird things. I recall his love of "little red" and his early joining the Navy. His enthusiastic letters to me led me to do the same upon graduation.
Farewell dear friend. I never forgot you.

I first met Dave at the 1994 Trebour Ford car show the GSRMC was running. He was in the driveway asking if I was parking as a spectator or showing the car. I said I was a spectator. He looked at the car, and said..........give me $ 15.00. This is a show car! I joined the club that day, thanks to Dave. In all the years I knew him, he was a prince among men. We will sadly miss him.

What a huge loss. Our hearts and our deepest sympathies go out to Brenda, Kristi, Vicki and family at this sad time. Dave was a wonderful guy who lived life according to a strong set of values that he believed in, he was never afraid to do the right thing. He was knowledgeable and loyal and he didn't have to think about what it takes to make a great person, he already knew how to be one. It was an honor to know him and he will be deeply missed.

Just moved to Long Valley. Car breaks down, son sick. Friend tells me to take car to Dave at Long Valley Sunoco. Meet Dave for first time. He sees sticker on back of car saying: Jane, call 1-800HANOI. He questions who Jane is, and finds out it is Jane Fonda. One hour later, car fixed. Dave now has us for customers for next 25 years. He had to fix our cars so often over the years, he affectionately called me Lucky. Advance the clock. Keith Gallaway and I visited Dave at Kessler. Keith gets phone call, leaves room. Dave tells me his time is near. How to answer that? So I asked Dave when he gets up to Heaven, see if he can speak to somebody about denying Jane Fonda access. We both had a good laugh, a handshake, and a hug. Dave was a great, honest mechanic, down to earth, tell it like it is, good person. We will miss him!

Georgia and I send our deepest sympathies to you. I knew Dave for many years from his visit's to my father in laws, The Sunoco in Long Valley and just in passing, what an awesome mechanic, he could repair anything! We shared the same love for the Ford Mustang and he worked on mine numerous times, although he would never tell me where he kept his collection, knowing Dave, i'm sure they were prioeless!

The world has lost a wonderful leader and servant! We have enjoyed and learned from Dave and Brenda through activities with the Antique Automobile club of America. In recent years we've come to know Leif, who displays the "always helpful" traits of Dave and Brenda. Dave is gone but he's left an indelible, beneficial mark on many things. May he rest in peace.

So sad to read this. My sincerest sympathies to his family and friends. I worked for Dave for a few years back in the 1980's. I learned a lot from him. He was a great mechanic. We were so sorry to hear of Dave's passing. We have known him since moving to Long Valley 35 years ago. He quickly became the go-to guy for everything automotive both modern and antique. More importantly he became a good friend- always willing to help, always upbeat, always the consummate professional. Will miss his advice, good humor and sincere concern for others. Dave was the salt of the earth and we will miss him greatly. Jody and Kelly.
