Obituary of Bruce Byrne

Bruce Patrick Byrne passed away on April 10, 2014, surrounded by his loving family. Bruce was an entertainer who performed in many community musicals and sang at weddings and events. He was a gentle spirit with a generous nature. He enjoyed golf, Seton Hall University basketball games, and attending daily mass at Saint James Church with the Holy Six. He was also near completion of a master’s degree in Health Care Management from the College of Saint Elizabeth. Bruce was an active member of the Friendly Son's of Saint Patrick of the Oranges and Maplewood and the Friendly Son's of Morris County. He was also a Trustee for the EIES of N.J. and for the Wight Foundation which provides full financial support for academic achievement scholarships for inner city youth. He is survived by his wife of 37 years, Rosemary Byrne, and two children; Joseph P. Byrne of Boston, M.A. and Megan Byrne of Ardmore, P.A. Additional surviving family members include siblings Roger Byrne of C.T., Ellen Hanlon of Mendham, N.J., and Marybeth Murray of Sea Girt, N.J. Visitation for Bruce will be held on Monday, April 14th from 3:00 – 7:00 P.M at Gallaway and Crane Funeral Home, 101 S. Finley Avenue, Basking Ridge, N.J. A Funeral Mass will be held on Tuesday, April 15, 2014, 10:00 A.M. at Saint James Church, Basking Ridge, NJ. Interment will follow at Gate of Heaven Cemetery, East Hanover.
