My dearest friend Bruce was as real as they get. He often said, "It is, what it is." My daughter Mary Elizabeth loved Bruce too, and posted this on her Facebook page today, for the man who was real. There are no ordinary people. You have never talked to a mere mortal. Nations, cultures, arts, civilizations - these are mortal, and their life is to ours as the life of a gnat. But it is immortals whom we joke with, work with, marry, snub and exploit - immortal horrors or everlasting splendors. This does not mean that we are to be perpetually solemn. We must play. But our merriment must be of that kind (and it is, in fact, the merriest kind) which exists between people who have, from the outset, taken each other seriously - no flippancy, no superiority, no presumption. C. S. Lewis
God bless you Uncle Brucie. We love you.

Our dearest Brucie, God bless you and your beautiful soul. Our entire family is so grateful to you and your extended family for embracing us, loving us like family, and bringing so much joy into our lives. We will miss you and never forget your kindness, your compassion, your humor, and your spirit. We count ourselves so blessed to be among your friends. You are forever in our hearts, and we will miss you. There is no doubt that you are in good with the big guy upstairs, and I know you will keep an eye on all of us - and maybe even put a good word in for us up there. We love you and your wonderful family. God bless always. The Le LeNeveus - D'Arcy, Mary, Margot, Philip, and Dana

In more than 50 years of friendship we have never met a kinder, more generous Gentleman. He directed youth groups such as Talent Time in Bloomfield, NJ.. ; he was an excellent basketball player at Seton Hall Prep; and a retired US Army Signal Corp. Captain. Bruce had an abiding interest in the historic towns of Bethlehem, PA and Little Silver, NJ. Bruce will be missed by Eileen and me and by many, many friends. Love, The Tooles

Dearest "Cousin Brucie" how our family loved you! You were my cousin Jack's best friend and became a part of our extended family. So many memories--parties on White Street, hanging out at Dodd's, singing at family weddings, ski trips to Vermont. You served St. John's (Orange) so well as Honorary Chairman of the 150th Anniversary, and kept telling me it would go well--and of course it did!!! Our "circle of friends" from The Crest grows smaller on earth while it gets bigger in Heaven. Say hello to the rest of the gang and give them my love. My condolences and love to Rosemary and your children. Rest in pace my friend!! Love you!!!

I met Mr. Byrne more than 25 years ago when I was a young 13 year-old girl applying for a scholarship through the Wight Foundation, where he was a Trustee. His pride in the mission of the Foundation made me feel like I was always part of the family. Thank you Mr. Byrne for always believing in me. I will miss you.

Thank you, Mr. Byrne for not only being a trustee of Wight Foundation which continue to help needing families like us but also for having provided entertainment with your music and sense of humor during the WF events. May the choir of angels brings you to the company of our Father in heaven. God bless you in your next journey.

Bruce and I had business dealings for many years. We had so much fun it never felt like work. I will always remember the "ukulele concert" he performed at my office and our lunches at Rutt's Hut. He will be missed.

On behalf of The Wight Foundation family, please accept our deepest sympathy. Bruce will be remembered for always advocating for the students who were not automatic acceptances. If Bruce had his way, we would have accepted every student we interviewed. He also never missed any of our Annual Holiday Dinners because of his commitment to lead our traditional sing-a-long, The Twelve Days of Christmas, with his ukelele. He was dubbed "Ukelele Burning" because of this tradition that he created at the Foundation. He was such a caring, wonderful, selfless individual who will be sorely missed by every member of The Wight Foundation family. Rest in peace, Bruce. You will never be forgotten. Thank you for helping the Foundation make such a tremendous difference in the lives of so many young people.
