Obituary of Marcello R Lombardi

Marcello R. Lombardi died on June 22 at home surrounded by his loving family. Born in Rome, Italy, Marcello immigrated to the United States in 1957. He resided in New Jersey the greater part of his life. Marcello was the devoted husband to Gail for 45 years and loving father to Marcello J. Lombardi, John Lombardi and Joanna Picciano, adoring grandfather to Joanna Nicole, Alexandra “Lexi” and Amelia Marie. In life Marcello valued his family most of all. His happiest times were spent with them. Marcello gave his unconditional love to the end. Marcello loved people and was a friend to everyone. He had an extraordinary personality with tremendous humor. He left a lasting impression on those he met. Marcello lived life to the fullest at all times. He enjoyed traveling, fine food and wine. A true bon vivante. Marcello was passionate about fishing and being one with the sea. At any given moment he would pick up his rod and reel and head to his favorite fishing boat, the Atlantic Star. Marcello owned and operated Lombardi Refrigeration for over 45 years which served many financial institutions. One being near and dear to him, Mayer & Schweitzer, which was eventually bought out by Charles Schwab. He continued to work into his retirement years as a consultant for them. Relatives and friends are invited to visit the Gallaway and Crane Funeral Home 101 South Finley Ave, Basking Ridge, NJ on Thursday June 27, 2013 from 4-7pm. A liturgy of Christian burial will be held on Friday June 28, 2013 at 11am at the Shrine of St. Joseph 1050 Long Hill Road, Stirling, NJ. In Lieu of flowers donations can be made in Marcello’s name to the Wounded Warrior Project, P.O. BOX 758517, Topeka, KS 66675. The family would like to thank Care Alternatives Hospice for the army of angels that cared for Marcello during his final days of life. Their love, care and compassion will always be remembered. Marcello has arrived at his eternal home. He will always be missed, but never forgotten.
