Obituary of Walter Henry Hallowell

Walter Hallowell, Beloved Husband, Father, Brother and Grandfather, dies at 70. Walter Hallowell, 70, of the Basking Ridge section of Bernards Township, died on Tuesday, June 18, 2013. He was born on April 24, 1943 in Rockville Centre, NY. He lived in Brooklyn and Lynbrook, NY before moving to Basking Ridge in 1982. Walter graduated with a BA from Fordham University, and completed his MBA at St. John’s University. He had a long and successful career in the insurance industry before embarking on a second career in consulting. Once fully retired, Walter became an avid golfer and an active member of Roxiticus Golf Club in Mendham, where he and his wife have been members for over 20 years. In addition to golf, Walter was a dedicated runner, successfully competing in many local races. He was truly loved by all, and will always be remembered as the life of every party. He is survived by his devoted wife, Marilyn Hallowell: his loving daughters Denise Buckley and Christine Cox; his companions and siblings, Anne Obuck, Elizabeth Valentino and Lincoln Hallowell; and his five adoring grandchildren. A liturgy of Christian burial will be held on Monday June 24, 2013 at 10:00am at the St. James Roman Catholic Church 184, South Finley Ave, Basking Ridge, NJ, followed by burial in the Holy Cross Cemetery, Basking Ridge.
