Ron, a dedicated engineer, community leader, and beloved family man, passed away leaving a legacy of service and innovation. Born in Columbus, Nebraska, his life journey led him across North America. Ron earned his Mechanical Engineering degree, later obtaining Master's degrees in Mechanical and Electrical Engineering.
For over 37 years, Ron applied his expertise at the Bell System, managing engineering, manufacturing, sales, and IT departments across Texas, Maryland, and New Jersey. In retirement, he served as a Trustee of Chatham United Methodist Church, volunteering as project manager for an elevator installation, and taught PC skills at ECLC , a school for children with disabilities.
Ron was active in various community organizations, including The Kiwanis Club of the Chathams, Chatham Library Board, Chamber of Commerce, and local government bodies.
In 2012, Ron and Bert found a warm and welcoming home at Fellowship Village and Basking Ridge Presbyterian Church where they serve as Deacons.
At Fellowship Village, he served on numerous committees, including as president of the Residents' Council. His advocacy extended to state and national levels through ORANJ, where he played a crucial role in passing the Veterans Property Tax Refund Bill, and NaCCRA.
Family was Ron's cornerstone. He shared 63 years with his wife, Bert, and is survived by two children, six grandchildren, twelve great-grandchildren, one great-great-granddaughter, and siblings in Oregon, Ohio, and Arizona.
Ron's technical support and iPad Club at Fellowship Village exemplified his commitment to lifelong learning and helping others.
His warmth, wisdom, and dedication to improving lives will be deeply missed by all who knew him.
