I had the wonderful honor of decorating three homes for Ken and Jill over the past 15 years. Ken always deferred to Jill for the choices but whenever Jill and I could not make a decision we would ask Ken which fabric or pattern or item he liked best and we would go with the complete opposite one which always turned out to be perfect!! I will miss the Big Guy!!!

To the Massey Family-
Please accept our heartfelt condolences. My colleagues and I feel blessed to have had the opportunity to work with him and know him as a friend. His zest for life, optimism, and ability to see the positive in everything was infectious. He was so vibrant, larger than life and leaves behind a void that can never be replaced. We will do all that we can to keep his legacy alive; keep doing what we are doing to help patients.
Missing a true friend,
Kitty

To Jill and the entire Massey family, please accept my heartfelt condolences. I feel truly blessed to have known Ken and am grateful for the positive impact he made on my life. A perpetually friendly and giving person, he was always willing to offer guidance and support to anyone who needed it. When I first met him at Novartis, it was obvious what a positive influence he had on all those around him. He always seemed to bring out the best in people. He taught me the importance of a good strategy, to be passionate about whatever you do, to never settle for the status quo, and to be thoughtful and remember the little things – like sending a birthday message to people who work for you. His love for Jill and the kids was inspiring. I always looked forward to meeting him for a beer at the Grain House. Even though I haven’t seen him lately, I’ll miss him dearly.

Ken was the mentor of many, and the pioneer of the Medical Affairs world. He gave me my first opportunity as a new MSL with Pharmacia in 2000, and led the Novartis team I eventually retired from in 2010. He truly loved his Florida Gators, and took great delight in having two OSU grads on the Novartis MSL team wear Gator sweatshirts during a national meeting, after the Buckeyes lost a game to Florida that year! His smile lit up a room like nobody else's. He will be missed by many, including those like me, to whom he gave the opportunity for a rewarding second career. Farewell, Ken. You were the best of the best.

I remember the day 20 years ago when Ken, Mark Hobbs and I played a charity golf event in Gainesville. Ken stepped up to the longest drive hole contest, had a little turkey on board even though it was October,, and smacked his most famous drive!! He signed the marker and placed it next to his ball and we three danced around high fiving as we knew he’d won. Godspeed Ken. Love ya Bro. Regis

My heart felt thoughts and prayers are with Jill and family during this difficult time. I had the honor to have worked with Ken for about 8 years and we kept in touch many times after working together. I vividly remember meeting Ken for the first time and the words of wisdom he gave at a large team meeting. He had such a huge positive impression on me and everyone he worked with. He was a true leader, it seemed to come naturally for him. He had inspiring ability to bring out the best in people, and with sincerity and fun. He was an industry icon in the field of Medical Affairs. I am heartbroken, he will be dearly missed.

There are simply no words, nor enough time, to express the loss we all feel in the Medical Affairs Community. Ken was a legend. A true authentic leader. He brought teams together and he fought tirelessly for his teams like the "father figure" of his tribe. Ken brought a vibrancy to each day. I can't say I ever saw him have a "bad day" at work. I still remember his coaching like it was yesterday. I can hear him saying "life is a marathon, not a sprint" and boy he meant it (this was in regards to work-life balance,) He cared so deeply and genuinely for his team. I speak for many when I say we were always touched by his love for Jill and the kids. Such a proud husband, father, and friend. Leadership was just "his thing" and it came effortlessly.
His mile-wide smile will be missed dearly, as will his 100% true compassion for anyone he ever coached, managed and mentored.
Saying prayers for the entire family during this difficult time. May you find peace in knowing how much he was admired so far and wide around the globe.
