Obituary of Elizabeth Salisbury

Elizabeth M. Salisbury 5/19/35 – 7/26/22

Elizabeth “Betsey” Salisbury was born to Dr. Philip and Elizabeth Morgan; siblings Dr. Philip Morgan (deceased) and Constance Scanlon (deceased). She was happily married to Peter B. Salisbury (deceased) for 35 years blessing her with three children: Karen Vaias (married to Robert Vaias), Megan Elia (married to James Elia) and Brock Salisbury.  She had one beloved grandchild, Emily Vaias, and beloved nieces and nephews (Heather Scanlon, Myvanwy Morgan, Dr. Maureen Morgan; David, Stephen and Paul Salisbury). She lived in nine different states.  Most of her lifetime was spent in Basking Ridge NJ, enjoying her last few years at Fellowship Village, where they showed her such remarkable care.  Her sanctuary was a family cottage in Lake Carey, PA, where she loved spending summers swimming, gardening, hiking and being with her family and childhood friends.  She had many cherished friends from all the various places she lived and Colby College, maintaining these friendships well into her eighties.  She was so knowledgeable and passionate about nature, animals and the environment and generously contributed to many charities. She had many interests including classical music, gourmet cooking, gardening, walking and being an avid reader.  She loved her pets very much. Her dog, Gracie, was her constant companion for her last 17 years.  She was dearly loved by her family and friends and will be sorely missed.  A memorial service will be held August 5, 2022 from 4pm-6:30pm at Gallaway and Crane Funeral Home in Basking Ridge, NJ.  In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to the Friends of the Bernards Township Library or the Alzheimer’s Association.
