Dear Mulcahy children. My deepest sympathies to you for losing your Dad. I was one of the “countless lives shaped” by your father. For no reason other than his deep kindness, your Dad spent many hours with me (often in his car to and from Trenton, where he created an internship for me when I was in high school). Your Dad exposed me to things that I never expected to see or do, and he instilled in me his ethics for hard word and compassion for fellow man. While he was not a surrogate father to me (as I lost my dad before I met yours), your Dad provided me with an opportunity to view him as your father, something that no doubt I carried with me to parenthood. Thank you for sharing your Dad with me.

I am so very sorry to learn of Bob's passing. I miss him already.
On behalf of the Atlantic Health System oncology physician team, I want to express my gratitude to Bob for his years of dedication and involvement in our cancer centers. He was always there for us, always said "yes". He joined committees, came to events and voiced support for our program, to any within earshot.
I remember a few years ago when we were trying to recruit a high level oncologist from a major University comprehensive cancer center. Bob was attending a meeting at Overlook Medical Center but came over and introduced himself. He spoke to the candidate at length about our cancer program and what it had meant to him, his family, and the community at large. The candidate decided to join our team, and told me later that the short conversation with Bob had been a significant factor in his decision.
In reading his obituary I was shocked at how many things Bob had done during his life; how many lives and institutions he had benefited through his tireless dedication to a wide variety of causes.
The world was a better place for many, many people because of Bob Mulcahy. I am grateful to have known him.
