My grandpa was a great and loving man. I remember back in elementary school, right when I get off the bus stop, he would be there waiting for me. Whether it was snowing or raining, he would be there, with an umbrella or a bicycle, taking me home safely. I always felt safe with him. He would plant these beautiful roses around the front of our house. It always felt like spring time when I was with him. He always smelled like the earth and whenever he was there, the whole garden would come to life.
I miss you so much Grandpa. Even though you're physically not here, but you'll always be here in our hearts. Rest in Peace.

I was very saddened to hear this news. I only know Mr. Han through the eyes and heart of my dear friend Shiao Dong. However I know he must have been a wonderfully kind and smart man based upon what I know about his family. I just lost my mother 6 months ago so I truly understand how sad it is to lose a parent that you love so dearly. My thoughts and prayers are with all of his family.

I loved my grandpa very much and I was meloncholy when I heard he passed. I remember how I would ride bikes with him in town and help him take care of his beautiful garden. His garden had many varieties from plants to flowers, I liked it because they were all a little different;just like people like you and me. Once my beloved grandpa had gone away, even the flowers started to turn brown and droop, mother nature must care for him I thought. I will always remember my grandfather; I will remember to think about him and remeber: Grandpa left some of his sould inside of me so if you think about it, he will always be with me. Just how my grandfather was, I will stay smart just how he did when he was little so while he is in heaven, I will always keep him proud.

No word can take away the sorrow you must feel. But hopefully, the cherished memories of your father will help and give you strength in the days ahead. As time passes, gradually we move toward the day when the comfort of our memories is greater than the sorrow of our loss.
Although there is so little we can do or say, it may help to know that we care!

Shiao Dong,
We were deeply saddened by the loss of your father. Your father gave up his very successful career and rare accomplishments and come to the US to be a full-time father and a grandfather. It spoke of his unconditional love and dedication to his children and their families.
We have known your father for over 10 years and he was like a dear father to us. He loved very much about gardening and converted your backyard to a flourishing garden, the best one we have ever seen. We loved very much touring his garden every time we visit your home. He always surprised us with newly planted flowers or additions of artful y created landscaping. The gardenias he gave to us 6 or 7 years’ ago have fully grown and blossomed with beautiful white flowers in every spring. They are a special gift he left to us, a symbol of his kindness and love to us, which will be with us for the rest of our lives.
Please convey our heartfelt condolences to your mother, brother, sister, and the children. Our thoughts are with you and your family during this difficult time. We pray the love of God enfolds you during your journey through grief.

Shiao Dong,
Yuansheng and I are deeply saddened to hear about the death of your father Rui-Yi Han. We have known Mr. Han since 1998, seeing him just like seeing our own parents. Like all the Chinese parents, Mr. Han and your mom could have enjoyed their peaceful retirement in China among their friends and relatives. Instead, they chose to come all the way to the United States, lending a warm hand and a big heart to their daughters and grandchildren. Their unselfishness and deep love have made a huge impact, not only on our generation but also on the next generation. I just read the note written by Melody describing how she was greeted by her grandfather on the school bus stop every day, rain or shine. It is the very same picture painted by my children, Karen and Willy, on their college essays about their grandparents. “To me, the grandparent is just another pair of parent,” as Willy puts.
I believe you must have been more grateful to your mom and Mr. Han because they have been shuttling between Atlanta and New Jersey to take care two families especially during the time when you and your sister are both struggling with special careers. As he devoted his retirement to caring his children and grandchildren in the US, Mr. Han had never stopped pursuing his love of life. The flower garden he grew on your backyard in Alpharetta is well known in the local Chinese community. His cooking is also the party favorite. We will remember him every time we see a nice backyard garden.
We know how difficult this must be for you and your extended family. You are in our thoughts and prayers. When we are reflecting on Mr. Han's life, we must also remember to take care of ourselves by maintaining a balanced life and keeping a good health. When you come back to Atlanta, let us get together with friends to remember Mr. Han. We may plant some special flowers in your new house as a way to remember him, a special way to say “happy father’s day”.
Sincerely,
Yuansheng Chen and Yale Xiao

We are deeply saddened by the loss of your beloved father. We can still vividlly remember ten years ago when we first met him at your home after the birth of Athena. He was such a happy and proud grandfather, and reminded me of my own father, an aerospace engineer himself. It feels just like yesterday, I wish I can turn back the clock.
I know how hard it is to cope with the loss. My own father lost his short battle with cancer three years ago in the same month. Our parents' invisible wings have protected us for so many years. I think that our fathers are tired, need rest.
Your father lived a wonderful full life, highly regarded and successful in his professional life, deeply loved by you and family. He is an inspiration for the rest of us.

With Great sorrow, we heard this shocking news from our friend Minjia.
Uncle Han is only at age of 74. He left Xiaodoing, her family members and us too soon...
Though only having had very few interactions with uncle Han, he left very deep impression on me. He is a senior, but he appeared very energitic and healthy looking with kind smile each time when he talked to me. I could tell from our conversation that he is a lovely father, a kind senior, a knowledgeable scholar man. My impression has been confirmed now by reading his resume that he was once a famous chief engineering officer of an institution with many honors awarded. And I believe that he must have contributed greatly to our country's aviation industry. The impact of his death will be felt and he definetely will be remembered by many and many, and by us ..
I treasure my lucky meeting and memory with Uncle Han, though as a physican, I also feel that he should not have left us so quick and soon. The modern screen technology should have detected the illness years ago and might have saved his life, I believe.
For Xiaodong and your family, We express our sincere condolence. We will be ready to do anything for you if it is needed.
With best regards,
Xuexin and Yan
