James’s family: I'm so sorry for your loss. I went through a similar situation and I was very helped by the hope that I found in the Bible in John 5:28, which says, "Do not amazed at this, for the hour is coming in which all those in the memorial tombs will hear his voice and come out". I am sending you a link with more information on this hope.

Jim was part of the fabric of our lives. I met him when he was about 7 or 8, and I babysat Betsy and Jim Halsey a few times. I moved away early and never got to know any of you as well as I might have liked. But you were always there - an extension of my beloved brother Pete, I guess. There's a tear in the fabric now. Loss so profound never goes away - you learn to live with it because you must. My thoughts are with you all.

My deepest condolences to the family for this tremendous loss. May the words found at Isaiah 26:19 bring you comfort in knowing that you will one day see Jim again.
Isaiah 26:19 "Your dead will live. My corpses will rise up. Awake and shout joyfully, You residents in the dust! For your dew is as the dew of the morning, And the earth will let those powerless in death come to life"

My deepest sympathy to the entire family for your loss. I know that no words can help ease the pain and loss that you are feeling right now. May our loving Father give the entire family sustenance and strength you need to continue cope with the loss of your loved one. May you find comfort in your precious memories and love shared. May the words of 2 Corinthians 1:3,4 “ Blessed be... the Father of tender mercies and the God of all comfort, who comforts us in all our trials” bring the entire family comfort and strength. Please accept my sincere condolences.

Betsy (and Family)
Words can not express how deeply saddened I am to hear about this tragic loss of Jim. While my memories of our high school (and post high school) days are distant, I definitely remember cast parties where Jim's beautiful voice and that of his brothers amazed and entertained us. My thoughts and prayers are with you and the entire family during this difficult time. May the Good Lord give you the strength to get through this heartbreaking time.
God Bless,
Mark Heinold

Such a terrible loss, one of my very oldest friends. People may not know about Jim that he drove a Simca before it was cool and later a Capri, followed by an original Pinto. His favorite herb was Savory. He called his father "sir" which impressed the heck out of my dad. He introduced me to LHR and Eddie Jefferson and Monty Python (so we could learn a proper British accent). He had a party to watch the "Miracle on Ice" on his antique Andrea TV in 1980. He somehow knew it would be worth watching. He was the only boy scout in the troop to pass his signaling with Morse code.
We live on in the hearts and minds of those whose lives we have touched. I cannot imagine my life without him. My condolences to Betsy and his family.

I knew Jim at RHS, and through BRPC. I loved his singing voice. It was a real treat to get to know him again and catch up with him and his life when he built bookshelves and did other repairs at my house in Mine Hill. He was a nice, kind, and funny man, with a real love of life. Deep sympathies to Betsy, Will, and Chrissy, to his mom Lynn, and to his siblings David, Linda, Ralph and Hugh and their families. So sorry for this profound loss.

My sincere condolences on the passing of this wonderful man. From Ridge High, to church junior choir to co-working at Better Homes and Gardens he was a big part of growing up in Basking Ridge. Jim had a huge, generous heart, a contagious laugh and beautiful singing voice. He will be sorely missed. My thoughts and prayers to his family and friends at this tremendous loss.

When I think of Jim I remember...
His big, hearty laugh
Him singing at the top of his lungs wherever we were
How he was always ready to help family and friends
Him quoting Monty Python endlessly
Him climbing out on the roof of Queen City Savings
Him building a platform bed with five foot tall posts
Him riding bicycles all over NJ
Him buying the perfect stuffed animal to woo Betsy
How elated he was when Will and Chrissy were born
Him hosting annual Christmas parties with Betsy every year
Him living each day to the fullest and living a very good life
When I think of Jim I will always smile because he would want that

What a kind soul he was. He will be missed. My husband (Don) and I had the
great pleasure to have "The 2 Jims" repair things in our home after we had a
flood. Looked forward to seeing them arrive every day. I also had a friendly cookie
baking competition with him. Boy, did he love cookies!! It was great fun! I'm sure
that all who knew him have many happy memories to help during this very sad
time. We will keep him in our prayers. Don and Christa
