Obituary of Elmer "Newt" Newton Turnbaugh

Newt Turnbaugh Lover of Life, Family and Friends Elmer Newton Turnbaugh, 69 of Gladstone, lost his short battle with Pulmonary Fibrosis on April 4, 2012. Born in Baltimore , MD, Newt studied Lutheran Ministry at Concordia Prep in Bronxville , NY before entering the Army during the Vietnam War. After his service, he moved to Pennsylvania and began working in the industrial tool industry. In the early 70's he moved to Summit, New Jersey and began working for Engineered Sales of Summit, NJ. In Summit , New Jersey he made many friendships that continued throughout his life. In the late 80's he and his business partner Art Schmidt started Allied Abrasives and tools when they sold to Mesco in 2008. Newt happily gave up the administrative part of being a business owner to concentrate on his gift of gab and his customers. Newt could have retired many years ago but enjoyed his coworkers and customers so much that he continued working until his passing. Newt was pre-deceased by his daughter Tracy Duncan in April 2009 and his parents, Elmer and Bertha Turnbaugh. He is survived by his loving wife Grace (Mazzocchi) Turnbaugh and his sister Patricia Slantis and her Husband James Slantis of Roland Park, MD. He is also survived by two grandchildren, Jessica Ferris and RyanLeRoy. He also leaves behind two son-in-laws Kenneth Duncan and George Ferris and a daughter in law Patricia Ferris. He brought much joy to his extended Italian family and in-laws and will be sadly missed. He was a member of Hamilton Farm Golf Club where he also lived. He enjoyed the Jersey Shore and had a second home and many friends at the Ocean Club of Mantoloking. He was a former member of the Riff Raff Club of Summit, New Jersey. In lieu of flowers, donations maybe be made in his name to The Pulmonary Fibrosis Foundation , 811 West Evergreen Avenue, Suite 204, Chicago, Illinois 60642 Relatives and friends are invited to visit the Gallaway and Crane Funeral Home 101 South Finley Ave, Basking Ridge, NJ on Monday April 9, 2012 from 2-4 and 6-8pm and on Tuesday April 10, 2012 from 1-4pm.
