Obituary of Louis J Ferrante

Louis J. (Lou) Ferrante, 70, passed away at Morristown Medical Center on Dec. 29, 2017 after a brief illness. Liturgy of Christian Burial will be held on January 8, 2018 at the Church of Our Lady of Perptual Help, Bernadsville, NJ at 10:00am. Visitation will be held on January 7, 2018 from 1-5pm at Gallaway and Crane Funeral Home, 101 South Finley Ave, Basking Ridge, NJ. Born and raised in Bernardsville, Lou was a pillar of the Bernardsville community. He taught 6th grade at the Bernardsville Middle School, retiring in 2008 after 37 years. He served his community with the Bernardsville Fire Company for 49 years holding many ranks, but most notably as Chief in 1984-1985. He also worked as a postal carrier for 46 years and had his own landscaping company. Lou was a graduate of Bernards High School, class of 1965, and furthered his education, graduating from Kean College (formally Newark State College), class of 1971, where he is a member of the athletic hall of fame. Mr. Ferrante is survived by his loving wife of 46 years, Barbara; 3 sons, Stephen of Bernardsville, Brian (Berdine) of Springfield, NJ, David (Annie) of Bernardsville and daughter Kristen (Max) Herman of Somerdale, NJ. He was also blessed with 7 loving grandchildren Alexander, Emma, Brandon, Catherine, James, Gianna, and Jacob. Lou is also survived by his brother Frank and sister, Mary Ferrante both of Bernardsville, and many nieces, nephews and cousins and Violet, the family dog.
