Obituary of Donald H Lorenz

Donald Lorenz, 80, died peacefully at his home in Basking Ridge, NJ on October 9, 2017. Visitation will be Thursday, Oct 12, 2017 from 2-4 & 6-8 at Gallaway & Crane, 101 S, Finley Ave, Basking Ridge. Funeral Mass will be held on Friday, Oct 13, 2017, 10:00 at St. James Church, 184 S. Finley Ave, Basking Ridge. Burial will follow at Holy Cross Cemetery, Basking Ridge. For further information, or to light an online condolence candle please visit gcfuneralhome.com Don was born in Brooklyn, NY and received his PhD in Polymer Chemistry at the Polytechnic Institute of Brooklyn. He worked as an industrial chemist and manager at GAF and Hydromer Inc. He also had his own chemical consulting business, Ridge Scientific Enterprises, specializing in polymeric products for medical devices. He was a prolific inventor with more than 50 patents. Don was very active in many ministries at St. James Church that were enriched by his deep faith in God and love of others. He also has volunteered for 11 years at the Cancer Center at Morristown Medical Center. Don loved his family dearly and is survived by his beloved wife, Pat, his son, Peter and wife Laura, grandchildren Peter and Natalie, and daughter Jeanne and husband Mark.
