Obituary of Eleanor Alberti Campo

Eleanor Alberti Campo 1920-2017 Eleanor Alberti Campo, 96, of Warren, NJ, peacefully passed away on Sunday, February 26, 2017. A memorial service for friends and family will be held on Wednesday, March 22 at 11 a.m. at St. Bernard's Episcopal Church, 88 Claremont Road, Bernardsville, New Jersey. The youngest of eight children, Eleanor was born in Bayonne, N.J. on August 8, 1920 to Joseph and Felicia Alberti, originally from Sicily. On August 13, 1944, she married Joseph Theodore Campo. While he served overseas during World War II, she lived in Connecticut and did drafting work for an airplane factory. After his discharge, the couple moved to Ft. Lauderdale, Florida to manage a laundry business. They returned to New Jersey with their two young children in 1950 to help run a family farm in Flemington. The family purchased their first home in Lake Parsippany, N.J. when Joseph purchased a news delivery business that Eleanor helped manage. In 1965 they moved to Parsippany Troy-Hills and together operated Jerry's Deli and Luncheonette on Parsippany Road for many years. She was a parishioner at St. Gregory's Episcopal Church in Parsippany, where she served on a number of committees. After her husband's death in 1985, Eleanor moved to Ridge Oak in Basking Ridge and worked as a bookkeeper. She moved to the Chelsea at Warren in 2014. She was an avid reader and spent much of her time at the Basking Ridge Library. At Ridge Oak she was active with the Recreation and Garden Committees. She loved the theater and classical music and attended concerts whenever she could. Eleanor is survived by one brother, William, of Monroe Township, her son Cliff Campo and his companion Sharon Adams of Galena, Maryland, her daughter Mary Jane Canose and husband Greg, of Bernardsville, grandsons, Joseph Canose and Daniel Canose of San Francisco, California, and Greg Campo of Morrisville, Pennsylvania and several beloved nieces and nephews.
