Obituary of Irene Forster
Irene Forster passed into the glory of her Lord and Savior on Sunday, February 19, 2017.
She was born Irene Carpenter McGahey on March 1, 1923 in Montchanin, Delaware to John and Sarah McGahey, who emigrated from Ireland in 1921.
Irene was a devoted sister, spouse, mother, grandmother and prayer warrior.
She met her husband, Norman Forster, a British Royal navy officer, in 1941 and they married in 1948. They first settled in Kearney, NJ and raised their family in Stirling, NJ., later making their home at Culver's Lake until Norman's death. While in Stirling, she was an active member at Millington Baptist Church where she taught Sunday School.
Irene was predeceased by her brothers Bill and Jack McGahey, sisters, Isabel Smith and Mariah Brown and her beloved husband of 62 years, Norman Forster.
She is survived by her sons Norman, Jr, wife Cynthia, Ronald W., wife Jeannie, and daughter Janet Taetzsch, husband, Michael, seven beloved grandchildren and one great grandchild.
A Memorial service will be held during March at a date to be announced. In lieu of flowers, the family requests that contributions in her memory be made to Camp Cedarbrook in the Adirondacks, PO Box 462, West Sand Lake, NY 12196-0462.
