Obituary of Stephen M Ujobagy

Stephen M. Ujobagy, 89, of Bernardsville, passed away on Feb. 13, 2017. Born and raised in Bernardsville, Stephen was a graduate of Bernards High School class of 1945. After graduation, Stephen served his country proudly in the U.S. Navy. Mr. Ujobagy worked for Bernards Township as a Road Department Supervisor. He served the community of Bernardsville for 68 years as a member of the Bernardsville Fire Company. Stephen joined the fire company in 1948 at the age of 21 and held numerous positions including ambulance driver, driver of truck numbers 1, 2,and 3, 1951-1952 2nd assistant chief, 1953-1954- 1st assistant chief, and 1955-1956 chief. He will be greatly missed by all of the members of the Bernardsville Fire Company and First Aid Squad. He was a past member of the American Legion, post 484, Stirling, NJ. Stephen is survived by his daughters Pat Miller, Bernardsville, and Peggy (Jim) Biel, Bridgewater, two grandchildren Paula (Steve) Beisser, R.J (Jenna) Miller, and five great grand children, Rachel, Mary, Nora, Luke, Logan. Also Surviving is his nephew Kevin Slattery. He was predeceased by his wife Berdina in 2007, son in law Bobby in 2004 and his sisters Helen Slattery and Anna Green. Liturgy of Christian Burial will be held on Saturday, Feb. 18, 2017 10:00am at Our Lady of Perpetual Help Church, Seney Drive, Bernardsville, NJ. Visitation will be held on Friday, Feb. 17, 2017 2-4 & 6-8pm at the Gallaway and Crane Funeral Home, 101 South Finley Ave, Basking Ridge, NJ. Interment will be private. In lieu of flowers, Stephen's family requested donations in his name to be made to the Bernardsville Fire Company, P.O. Box 745, Bernardsville, NJ 07924.
