Obituary of Jane Zimmerman

Jane Zimmerman, 72, beloved wife, mother, grandmother, sister and friend passed away peacefully surrounded by her family on the beautiful Fall morning of October 31, 2016. The fifth of seven children born to Jim and Mary O'Brien of Orange, New Jersey, Jane was born on March 25,1944 and graduated from the Marylawn of the Oranges Academy and the College of St. Elizabeth. The devoted mother of seven children, Jane was also the President of the Bernardsville (NJ) Board of Education where she was a tireless advocate for the district's students, teachers and administrators and where she prevailed in the passing of a significant bond referendum to rebuild and expand the Bernardsville schools. Following her tenure, she became a successful entrepreneur and founded Little Footprints, a specialty children's clothing and design store. She is survived by her husband, Walt Zimmerman, children Maura Colleton Corbett, Erik Zimmerman (Kelly), Elizabeth Colleton, Tom Colleton, Jimmy Colleton, Danny Colleton (Stephanie) and John Colleton (Lara Clayman), ten wonderful grandchildren and her siblings Jimmy O'Brien, Tommy O'Brien, Bobby O'Brien, Gina Sonntag-O'Brien, and Patty Linden. Her cherished sister Marybeth McGee preceded her in death. A Celebration of Life service will be held at 1:00pm on Saturday, November 5, 2016 at Corpus Christi Catholic Church, 234 Southern Boulevard, Chatham, New Jersey.
