Stumbled upon this beautiful obit quite by accident. So so sad to learn we have lost an old friend from long ago! Somehow I hoped she would be around always.
Marieliese was our 4-H Bridle Spurs leader. She and my mom (the late Patricia Blake Hill of Nutley NJ) would trade carpooling duties to our 4H meetings -- oh so many years ago! Our Mihok friends had the most lovely barn and I always wanted to replicate it...perhaps Marieliese Mihok was one of the last people allowed horses in Montclair. Some years later we reconnected when the family moved to Basking Ridge. She looked exactly the same: beautiful smile and always a friendly hello. Horses horses horses! I always loved chatting with her.
I want Heather, Wendy, and Holley to know that my sister Hillary and I share the fondest memories of those times in 4H and at the horse shows with all of you. I smile to think that your Mom is up there, riding across the clouds.
Most sincerely,
Patricia Hill Herron

There are no words to describe the sadness that I feel for the loss of my best forever friend Marieliese. I will love her forever and beyond for the truly amazing impact she has had on my life and so so many she came to know. She was a friend to everyone and was the center of happiness for all that knew her. She is just a breath away from where we are and is still looking out for all of us as angels do. Her smile brings such warmth to my heart and I know we will see her again at the end of the rainbow.
My sincere condolences to all of the the Mihok family and all of those that loved her.

My deepest condolences to the family. Marieliese was such an amazing person. She raised and showed horses, was an expert breeding and grooming dogs and took care of the beautiful farm. You were always welcome to visit her for a cup of coffee and oh how she loved to decorate the farm house and property for holidays. All of this legacy she passed on to her loving children. We spent several wonderful vacations with Mare,John and all of our children on the Jersey Shore. What fun we had!
Now Mare is with her beloved husband and her Mum and Dad in Heaven where I know she was greeted with open arms by all. God speed Marieliese. we are missing you with all our hearts.

So why would I select this smaller candle? Because your Mom loved color, no matter how small. The colors of every single Holiday were so very special to her - both inside and outside her home. I'm sure God already showed her candles of unbelievable color to light her pathway as she went to Heaven - where God is the eternal Light.

Mrs. Mihok was a "second" Mom to me growing up in Upper Montclair. Always welcoming in her home, sharing her love for horses, family and "life" with all who crossed her path in life. There were always goodies on the table and ice tea with lemonade.
I was welcomed at their home in Upper Montcliar always. Riding our horses together in the ring, sleigh rides with Delight, and ponies, Cocoa & Dutchess who willingly pulled us around on saucers in the snow.
4-H meetings, shows, judging team, she knew the value of commitment and working as a group, through this club. I always loved to share how she encouraged me to be a part of this program. I had a difficult childhood and their is no question horses and forever friendships saved me from going down the wrong road. I will continue to support this group knowing she is smiling down encouraging me to cherish our youth.
I want all of her family to know you are a part of her huge smile and welcoming spirit. Her legacy will carry on through you & I know in my heart she is very proud of all of you. Sending prayers & a huge hug, Annie, John, Matt & Kristin Lambert

Sincere sympathy from Delaware for the loss of one terrific lady. Her Light, which shone so brightly, can never be extinguished as it lives on in each of us who had the good fortune of knowing Marieliese. May God bless her wonderful family members who cared for her as her health failed and allowed her to remain until the end in the home she loved dearly.

Our hearts are saddened at the loss of my big sister Mare...she always had a special glow about her that was felt by all who were lucky to meet her...She was generous and selfless, warm and welcoming...All would hear that melodic "Hi" at the door, to a home full of good conversation, great food, always a treat or two, and when you left, you knew you were leaving with a warm and cozy feeling in your bones...we know someday we will see you in the light with all the other dear ones that have passed before us...peace be with the children, grandchildren, and great grand kids, my sisters,Rita and Linda, and brother Hans, and all their loved ones...we will all miss this special lady, but will keep her in our hearts...Cynthia & Jim, Amy & Markus

My deepest sympathies to the Mihok family. Growing up as friends of the Mihok Family - I treasure my memories of this wonderful family and my memories of growing up as part of the horse community and group of kids that were part of the 4-H Club. We all came from different backgrounds and family situations, some not the best, but we all felt at home at the Mihok's. Marieliese was such a role model for all of us and the way she raised her children to work hard and give back was such a strength to all of us. So sad to hear the news of her passing. Her children are strong and the best of what we hope to instill in our own children. I am not worried about them at all for I know they were raised by the best parents that life can provide and what a lucky thing to have these days. My condolences to all of you and hope to visit with you all some day soon. Love to all - Janet Scott Furniss

It is so hard to say good bye to a wonderful sister and always a good friend. We spent a lot of good times together in your kitchen or mine. From horses to Golden Retrievers to gardening to house projects to family gatherings from the past....always fun conversation and delicious desserts that we both enjoyed. "Hi....come on in and have a cup of coffee! sit down ! I need to rest!" that's what you always said in a cheery welcome.and so I did. I will miss you for the rest of my life. I am grateful for the years we had together and the luncheons we shared at Cracker Barrel with Rita, It all went by way too quickly.A light has gone out here on earth but shines on in Heaven I am sure. Find Mom and Dad Mare and all the others we miss including the animals. Love Linda and Dick

It is with heavy hearts that we send this tribute. Marieliese lived a beautiful life of caring and compassion, a friend to all. We are both so very fortunate to have experienced years of her support and encouragement. Many wonderfully healing life experiences would not have happened if your Mom had not been in our lives. From our first kitten to temporary housing while working a job near her. She was truly a person of love and understanding. Please know our thoughts and prayers are with all of you as you walk through this difficult transition.. Love, Kathy and Brian
