Obituary of Thomas Fisher
Thomas McDonald Fisher, age 85, of Gillette, NJ passed away on March 20, 2016 at the Center for Hope, Scotch Plains, NJ. A service to celebrate his life will be held at St. Mark Lutheran Church, 100 Harter Road, Morristown, NJ on April 9, 2016 at 12 PM. Burial of ashes will occur on June 4 in Cornwallville, NY. Thomas was born in Queens, NY to John and Janet Fisher on February 26, 1931. He graduated from Cairo High School, Cairo, NY and worked for Deleuw Cather and Company, New York, NY as a Civil Engineer for over 25 years. After retirement, he was actively involved in the Corvair Club, Military Transport Association of New Jersey, a chapter of the military vehicle preservation association club, and participated in many Jeep Jamborees. Additionally he was involved in several personal projects, designing, building, welding, landscaping, restoring and modifying jeeps, other vehicles and mechanical equipment.
He is survived by his wife of 61 years, Bernice Fisher of Gillette, NJ, three children, Bonnie Faust of Basking Ridge, NJ; Mark Fisher of Bel Air, MD; and Tamra Mooney of Peru, VT, four grandchildren, Erika Faust and Heather, Brooke and Scott Mooney, four step grandchildren, four step great-grandchildren and 10 nieces and nephews.
He is preceded in death by his parents and siblings, Harriet Bell Duncan, Janet Fisher and John (Jack) Fisher.
