Obituary of Franklin Radican
Franklin M. Radican, 77, of Mendham, NJ passed away on March 4, 2016 at Morristown Medical Center, surrounded by his loving family.
Franklin was born in Jersey City, NJ to Francis and Virginia (Delaplain) Radican on November 8, 1938. He attended Saint Michael's High School in Union City, NJ and went on to earn a degree in food chemistry from Delaware Valley College, Doylestown PA, in 1960. Franklin played quarterback on the college football team and was instrumental in starting the school's track and field program. He was elected to the Delaware Valley College Football Hall of Fame in 1989. Franklin attended the US Army Officer Candidate School (OCS) where he graduated first in his class in 1962. He went on to work in international sales and marketing for Allied Chemical/Signal for 26 years and then for Givaudan, a Swiss manufacturer of flavors and fragrances, for 10 years, retiring as Senior Vice President, Specialty Chemicals in 1996. Franklin enjoyed photography, civil war history and flower gardening, as well as taking annual trips to Italy and France and spending winters in Naples, Florida with his wife.
Franklin is survived by his loving wife Ann Marie (Bertucci) Radican, his cherished children, Francis Lawrence Radican and his wife Eileen, and Maryellen Reidy and her husband Michael, and his pride and joy, his grandchildren, Matthew, Kathleen and Emily Radican and Andrew, Connor and Timothy Franklin Reidy. Also surviving is his brother Richard Radican and his wife Louise. He was preceded in death by his loving parents.
Visitation will be held at Gallaway and Crane Funeral Home, 101 S. Finley Ave, Basking Ridge, NJ 07920, on Wednesday, March 9, 2016 from 4:00 to 7:00 PM. A Mass of Christian Burial will be held at Immaculate Conception Church, 316 Old Allerton Rd, Annandale, NJ 08801, on Thursday, March 10, 2016 at 10:30 AM. Burial will follow after the mass and the Immaculate Conception Church Cemetery. Following the services there will be a luncheon at Beaver Brook Country Club, 25 Country Club Dr., Annandale, NJ 08801.
