Obituary of Jatinder K Gulati

Jatinder K. Gulati, 75, of Somerset, NJ passed away peacefully at St. Peter's Hospital, New Brunswick on Saturday, December 26, 2015. He was surrounded by his family. Jatinder was born in India where he studied engineering at the Birla Institute of Technology. He and his wife, Asha married in 1967 and subsequently moved to the U.S., via London, in 1969 to pursue a Master's Degree in Industrial engineering from the University of Tennessee. He had an illustrious career in the nuclear power plant industry with the highlight being the safe shutdown of the Three Mile Island Nuclear facility in Pennsylvania. His early years were focused on his family and raising two sons to be great citizens of the world. He was their soccer coach, guided them through growing up, and gave them the best education they could acquire. Over the course of his life Jatinder loved connecting with people all over the world and helping them succeed. He is remembered fondly by all for always being generous with his time and thoughtful stories. People remember him for his BIG smile and hearty laugh! He also supported many different charities including NJ Foundation for the Blind and Uttra School in India. Recently, his passion was spending time with his five grandchildren and he could be found attending their games, recitals and concerts. He bragged about his grandchildren every chance he could get. Jatinder is survived by his loving wife Asha Gulati; his son, Ashim Gulati and his wife Dipti, and their children Priya, Sachin, and Sonia. His second son, Anuj Gulati, his wife Molly and their daughters, Bella and Mia. Visitation will be held on Monday, December 28, 2015 at The Gallaway and Crane Funeral Home, 101 S. Finley Avenue, Basking Ridge, from 2:00 – 4:00 pm & 6:00 – 8:00pm. Funeral services will be held on Tuesday, December 29, 2015, at 12:00pm at Somerset Hills Memorial Park Chapel, 95 Mt. Airy Road, Basking Ridge NJ. Details will be confirmed on Monday.
