Obituary of Elizabeth M Markey

Betty Markey Loving wife, mother and grandmother Betty Markey, a longtime resident of Basking Ridge passed away suddenly on December 5, 2015 Born in the Bronx, NY in 1933, she spent most of her life in New Jersey. A graduate of the Katherine Gibbs Academy, Betty worked for Merck & Co. and later for the Bernards Township school system. Betty was the loving wife of Andrew for more than 58 years. They have 5 children - Tim and Sue Markey, Kevin and Doris Markey, Mary Ellen and Bruce Mayer, Mike and Deborah Markey and Jean and Jens Finsen. Her 12 grandchildren were the light of her life - Ian, Sam, Andrew, Patrick, Megan, Jon, Erik, Susie, Olivia, Nick, William and Harry. Betty will be sorely missed. She was a caring, generous, compassionate person who enriched the lives of everyone she met. Memorial visitation will be held at Gallaway and Crane Funeral home, 101 S. Finley Ave, Basking Ridge, from 4 to 7pm on Tuesday, December 8, 2015. Memorial Mass of Christian burial will be celebrated at the Church of St. James, Basking Ridge at 10am, Wednesday, December 9, 2015.
