Obituary of Evelyn C Becht

Evelyn C. Becht, 89, passed away on November 1, 2015 in Morristown, NJ. A private grave side ceremony will be performed in Restland Memorial Park. The only child of Wallace and Caroline Strodl, she was raised in Arlington, NJ. She graduated from Katherine Gibbs School and then graduated Magna Cum Laude from Hunter College in English, completing her degree in 3 years of night school. She met her future husband, Charles Becht, at a YMCA Dance in Newark. Married in 1950, they raised their family in a house they built together in Morris Township. Evelyn was a devoted Mother, loving wife for 64 years, and a gourmet cook. She worked at times as an Executive Assistant. An avid traveler, she visited 134 countries and all 7 continents. Evelyn also enjoyed difficult crossword puzzles and investing in the stock market. Evelyn was active in the community including the Home and Garden Club of Morristown, Senior Citizen Club and the Presbyterian Church of Morristown. She was a founding member of the Stardust Swim Club. She was predeceased by her beloved husband, Charles III, and survived by her five children, twelve grandchildren and a great grandchild.
