Obituary of Barbara Holmes

Barbara K. Holmes of Fanwood, NJ, a 38 year resident of the Basking Ridge section of Bernards Township, died peacefully on Sunday, August 16, 2015. She was raised in Fanwood, NJ and attended and graduated from Scotch-Plains Fanwood High School. She married her husband William R. Holmes Jr. in 1963 and they lived in North Plainfield before moving to Basking Ridge in 1977. They celebrated 50 years of marriage in 2013. Barbara will be remembered as a devote member of the community with a strong commitment to volunteerism. She volunteered and was an active volunteer for community organizations including: The Bonafides of Somerset Hills, Somerset County Meals on Wheels, Ridge High School Touchdown Club, and the Garden Club of Somerset Hills. She is survived by her three sons William R. Holmes III of Chesterfield, VA., Robert T. Holmes of Pottersville, NJ., and Jeffrey A. Holmes of Clinton Township, NJ. She is also survived and loved by her ten Grandchildren. She was predeceased by both her husband William R. Holmes Jr. in 2014 and her daughter Cynthia A. Scalley in 2007. A Memorial Service service will be held on Thursday, August 20, 2015 at St. James Church, 184 S. Finley Avenue, Basking Ridge at 11:00 AM.
