Obituary of Thomasina Schmidt

Thomasina D. Schmidt, 85, of Allamuchy Township, passed away peacefully on Wednesday afternoonDecember 31, 2014 at Juniper Village in Chatham NJ. Thomasina, known to all as Tomi, was born in 1929 to parents Joseph and Nancy Di Franco in Newark NJ and raised in Irvington NJ, the youngest of three daughters. Tomi resided in Livingston NJ for 35 years prior to moving to the community of Panther Valley in Allamuchy NJ in 1989. Her lifelong interests included cooking, travel, and sewing, which she thoroughly enjoyed and was an exceptional seamstress. Tomi graduated from Irvington High School in 1947 and was employed as a bookkeeper with Mutual Benefit Insurance Company, Mayer Management Co., and The Finn Company, retiring in 1993. During retirement, she was a member of the Panther Valley Seniors Club, the Garden Club and the Red Hat Society. Tomi was predeceased by her beloved husband of 59 years, Frank W. Schmidt III in 2010, and her sisters, Frances V. Iracane and Rose D. Croll. She is survived by her daughter Kathi J. Schlichting and husband William R.; her son Glenn W. Schmidt and his wife Mary Ellen; and five grandchildren, Jaclyn, Bryant and Douglas Schlichting; and Eric and Danielle Schmidt. Family and friends are invited to a Memorial Service held on Saturday, January 10, 2015 from 12 Noon to 1:00 pm at Gallaway & Crane Funeral Home, 101 South Finley Ave, Basking Ridge NJ. Interment of ashes will follow at Somerset Hills Memorial Park Cemetery.
