Obituary of Teresa Sgaramella
Teresa Sgaramella, 84 of Morristown passed away on Sunday, December 14, 2014. Beloved wife of 56 years to the late Emanuele Sgaramella; loving mother to sons Vito, Anthony and wife Suzanne and daughter, Cristina and husband Frank Maffei; cherished grandchildren, Lauren, Ali, Michael, Olivia, Celia and Joe.
Teresa was born in Ruovo di Puglia, Italy and immigrated to the United States with dual citizenship via the Andrea Doria. They settled in New York City, then to Brooklyn, then Staten Island before settling in Morristown in 1978. Teresa and Emanuele became proprietors of A & L Men's Shop until they retired in 1989. She was a tailor, avid gardener, traveler and fabulous cook teaching her children and grandchildren Italian traditions and the art of Italian cooking.
In addition to her children, Teresa is survived by her brothers Joe and Nick Cantatore and sister Tina Petrone, many sisters in law and brothers in law and nieces and nephews and great nieces and nephews and cousins. She was predeceased by her brother Michael Cantatore. She deeply valued those relationships and loving ties to her family, neighbors and friends, Paul and Gail and Aide Joanna.
Visitation will be Thursday, December 18 at Gallaway and Crane Funeral Home at 908-766-0250/website www.gcfuneralhome.com. Mass services will be held on Friday, December 19 at Our Lady of Perpetual Help, Bernardsville. Interment will follow at Holy Cross Cemetery, Basking Ridge.
