Obituary of Rita G Sternick

Rita Mary (nee Grabarczyk) Sternick passed away on October 6 peacefully at home with her family around her. Born and raised in Far Hills/Millington New Jersey, she resided in Bernardsville New Jersey for over 60 years. Rita loved to garden, bake (famous for her Apple pies), sew, travel and loved to dance (especially the polka). She was artistic and loved to draw. She played softball andwas a hard hitting first baseman who played on various championship softball teams. She was very proud of her polish heritage. Her family was a special part of her life and she was proud of all her children, grand-children and great grand-children. They brought a smile to her face every time she was with them. She was a 1952 graduate of Bernards High School. She is survived by her husband John Sternick whom she was married to for 59 years. She loved traveling with him around the world. They loved to dance and be together sharing many special moments. Holding hands, taking, walks, many memories to last a lifetime. She was a life member of Our Lady of Perpetual Help Church in Bernardsville NJ where she was President of OLPH Parish Council. She was also President of the Peapack Gladstone Jr. Womens Club, and President of St. Elizabeth School PTA. She is survived by: her sister Rose Lynn and her Husband William of Bernardsville. Her six children son Mark Sternick and his wife Pauline of South Carolina, daughter Mary Jo Munroe of Maine, son Christopher Sternick and his wife Vicki of Washington, daughter Valerie Halm and her husband Scott of Phillipsburg, son Andrew Sternick and his wife Donna of Bedminster, and son Raymond Sternick and his wife Lysianne of Far Hills. Eight Grandchildren; Dustin, Mary, Travis, Benjamin, Emily, Katherine, Amy and Timothy. Seven Great Grandchildren Titus, Ethan, Elizabeth, Abberly, Swayze, John Mark, Travis, and many nieces and nephews. Visitation will be held on Sunday Oct. 12 from 1-3 and 5-7PM at the Gallaway and Crane Funeral Home, 101 South Finley Ave, Basking Ridge, NJ. Liturgy of Christian Burial will be held at the Church of Our Lady of Perpetual Help, Seney Drive, Bernardsville, NJ at 10:00am. Entombment will follow the funeral at Holy Cross Cemetery Basking Ridge, NJ.
