Aunt Patsy Boak was the kindest woman I have ever known (and her husband the kindest man). She made every childhood holiday – celebrated at the house of her parents, my grandparents – a delight. She shared the family’s wit and laughter while also having a depth of kindness that made the world sturdy and safe for all. She was endlessly giving to her own parents; and she also often helped my mother, when my mother needed help. In my adult years, she continued (along with Uncle Bob) to be for me a model of goodness. Often if I saw something troubling or confusing, I would think, “What would Aunt Patsy think? What would Uncle Bob say?” Even at long distance, and with long intervals between seeing them, they were – and will always continue to be – deep in the fabric of my life. Elaine Scarry (Lainey)

Our Aunt Patsy -- our father's sister -- illustrated with her life how it is simultaneously possible that "God put us on Earth to help other people" and also that "God wants us to express to the fullest the joy of being alive." Aunt Patsy showed us both in action. Thank God for Aunt Patsy!
