Vera Zdepski

Obituary of Vera V Zdepski

Vera Mascera Zdepski, died on August 21, 2014. She was the brave survivor of a long illness. Born in Montclair, NJ, 1922; she was predeceased by her parents Josephine Prestofillipo Mascera and Joseph Mascera, and her brothers, Dominick and Federico. The great love of Vera's life was her husband Michael Zdepski whom she lost to cancer in 1993. Michael was her mentor, sharing a stalwart faith in God. They married in August, 1945 and had a wonderful life together in Pompton Plains where they their raised son, Michael Stephen Zdepski. To describe Vera would be to say: she was vivacious and energetic! Vera's WWII effort was to draft technological drawings for airplane engines. Later, she worked for Cyanamid Corporation, and as a librarian. She loved horses, and riding, until a back injury ended her favorite hobby. She was a brilliant seamstress, making hundreds of beautiful items with her quilting club...bonnets for babies, and warm hats for anyone who needed them. Vera is survived by her son Michael Stephen Zdepski (Rebecca); Two grandchildren, Michael Thomas Zdepski (Suin), and Laura Kristin Sands (Steven); step-grand-daughter Onnie Bakhaus (Bradley Stewart). Two great-grandchildren: Micaela Sands, Jason Zdepski; two step-grandchildren, Ariana Bridges and Morgan Stewart. Special memory noted for Lauren Ann Zeiser Zdepski, who also died from complications of cancer, in 1996. Lauren is the mother of Michael Zdepski and Kristin Zdepski Sands. Leila A. is in our hearts for caregiving. Thank you. Visitation will be held on Tuesday, August 26, 2014 from 10:00 – 11:30 AM at Gallaway and Crane Funeral Home, Basking Ridge, NJ.
