Obituary of Joseph J Lalicata

Joseph Lalicata resident of the Sunrise in Basking Ridge & Berkeley Heights Rehabilitation Center and originally from Queens New York passed away on Thursday, June 19, 2014. He left this world and entered eternal life peacefully surrounded by family at his bedside. Joe was 82 years of age. Funeral arrangements are by Gallaway & Crane Funeral Home, 101 South Finely Ave. Basking Ridge, NJ. Joe's family will receive relatives and friends on Sunday, June 22nd, 2014 from 1:00 - 3:00 pm. A Mass will be celebrated Monday, June 23, 2014 at 10:00 AM at Saint Brigid Church, 129 Main Street Peapack, NJ 07977. www.saintelizabeth-saintbrigid.org Born at home on September 17, 1931, Joseph was a lifelong resident of Astoria, Queens NY. Following his high school graduation, he served his country in the U.S. Army during the Korean conflict from 1951-1953. A tradesman in anything dealing with construction, Joe began working at an early age. He had a knack for fixing things and for doing quality work in business, at home and for anyone else who came calling for Joe's help. He supported his family all his working career as a small business owner until his formal retirement in 2007. Joe was a beloved and respected family member who enjoyed a loving and active family life that spanned 3 generations. He shared and participated in numerous family events through the years ranging from formal occasions such as weddings and baptisms to more simple events such as birthdays, graduations, dance recitals and backyard cookouts (where he usually manned the grill.). Joe was a true 'People' person. He always enjoyed the simple pleasure of Family, gardening, good conversation and good Food (especially when he cooked on "Sunday Dinners" which began promptly at 2pm & ended whenever.) Joe is survived by his 5 children; Daughter Joanne Shannon (and her husband Kevin Shannon and their children, Justin, Tara & Morgan) Son Joseph Lalicata (and his wife Linda) Son Tony Lalicata (and his wife Michelle and their children, Stella & Joy) Daughter Suzanne Pardo (and her husband Walter Pardo and their children Isabel & Natalie.)
