Obituary of Elinore H Todt

Elinore Todt, affectionately known as Elly by her friends and family, passed away on Friday, April 11, 2014 at Morristown Memorial Hospital. Born in Dutch Neck, New Jersey on May 24, 1929, Elinore was a graduate of Princeton High School and Montclair State University. She received two masters from Kean University in English and education administration. She was a lifelong educator, with her first job teaching English at Linden High School, where she also directed the school plays. She taught English in Bernards Township public schools for 25 years. Elinore touched the lives of many through her various volunteer activities, including a Girl Scout leader, committeewoman for the Republican Party in Middlesex County, a census-taker, and as a Sunday school teacher, Elder, and leader of the Vacation Bible School program at First Presbyterian Church in Rahway, New Jersey,. She was also active in the AAUW. After retiring from teaching, she and her husband were world travelers, eventually visiting all seven continents. She was a volunteer at the Paige Whitney Baby Center, a Stephen Minister at The Presbyterian Church of Basking Ridge, and a docent for the Summit Art Center. Elinore loved books and encouraged her children and grandchildren to become avid readers as well. Her home was filled with her books. Elinore was happiest when surrounded by family and friends. She was the beloved wife of William for 63 years, the loving mother to Lisa (Hruska), Betsy (Schmitt), and Erica (Kuhlmann), and the cherished grandmother of Allison, William, Dana, Kevin, and Lucie. Visitation will be private for immediate family members, with a memorial service planned for June.
