Obituary of John F Healy

John F. Healy of Basking Ridge passed away on Thursday, March 6, 2014. "Jack" Healy was born in New York City on March 6, 1928, resided on the Upper West Side during his childhood, and graduated from De La Salle High School. He completed his bachelor's degree at Fordham University as well as an associate's degree at Pratt Institute. In 1950 Jack joined the Army and served as a First Lieutenant in the US Army Signal Corps for three years. He married the love of his life Evelyn (nee Glynn) in 1955. After living in North Jersey, Boston and Washington D.C., they settled in Basking Ridge in 1973. He was a dedicated employee of the American Telephone and Telegraph (AT&T) Corporation for 44 years and retired as Vice President - Network Services. Jack enjoyed the challenging work and loved the extended AT&T family. After retiring, Jack began pro bono work for the United Nations Development Program as a Senior Advisor. He was a charter member of the Somerset County Vocational & Technical Schools Foundation and was named the SCVTS Foundation Business Partner of the Year in 2006. Jack remained an active member of the Veteran's of Foreign Wars Post #7858, Bernardsville, NJ. Jack is survived by his loving wife of 58 years: Evelyn Healy of Basking Ridge, his son, Mark and wife, Alison, his daughter, Regina and husband, Timothy Sokas, his son, Stephen and wife, Elyda, his daughter, Serena and husband, Edward Ritter, and his son, Gregory and wife, Soo Mae Chu, as well as sixteen grandchildren. He was predeceased by his eldest son, John. Visitation will be held on Thursday, March 13, 2014 from 2 - 5 pm at Gallaway and Crane Funeral Home, 101 S. Finley Ave, Basking Ridge. Funeral Mass will be Friday, March 14, 2014, 10 am at St James RC Church, Basking Ridge. Interment will follow at Holy Cross Cemetery.
