Obituary of Edward G Trinter
Edward G. Trinter, 97, of Bernardsville passed away on Thursday February 27th at the Morris Hills Center in Morristown, N.J. Born in Newark and raised in Union, he moved to Bernardsville in 1946 after his service in WW II. He was Army Staff Sergeant and served in the North African / Italian campaigns during the war.
Mr. Trinter worked for Fischer Baking Company in Newark N.J. until its closing then was employed in several electronics production companies. He retired from Olympia USA as parts manager when the company was reorganized and relocated. He continued to work part time at Clark’s Hardware in Bernardsville for the next 20 years.
He was predeceased by his wife Christine in 2000 and his brother Robert in 1988. He is survived by two sons Richard and wife Kim of Everett, WA. , Kenneth and wife Peggy of Bernardsville. He is also survived by his grandson Kurt of Somerset, N.J. as well as his beloved nieces, nephews and their children.
Ed was an avid stamp collector, Civil War historian, gardener, model ship builder and hiker. He could be seen almost daily walking through the borough and adjoining towns.
He was a member of The First Presbyterian Church of Bernardsville, served as a Deacon and sang in the choir for many years.
Visitation will be held at Gallaway and Crane Funeral Home, 101 S. Finley Ave, Basking Ridge, NJ on Wednesday, March 5, 2014 from 4:00 – 7:00 pm. Funeral Service will be held on Thursday, March 6, 2014 at the funeral home at 11:00 am. Interment will follow at Somerset Hills Memorial Park Cemetery.
