Obituary of Robert J Turbett

Robert J. Turbett, 87, of Millington, passed away on January 25, 2014.  Bob was predeceased by his loving wife, M. Eleanor (Martin) Turbett and dear friend, Jean Barker.  He is survived by his daughter, Carol J. Haddix (William) of Haddon Heights, NJ and his grandsons, Mattthew (Julie) of Fairfax, VA and Kevin (Whitney) of Durham, NC. Bob graduated from Bloomfield High School in 1944 and received a BS in Chemical Engineering with top honors as an evening student from Newark College of Engineering in 1953.  His career with Union Carbide Corporation (Dow Chemical) began as a laboratory technician upon his graduation from Bloomfield High School in 1944 and culminated with his retirement in 1985 as a senior research and development associate in Wire & Cable applications.  He thoroughly enjoyed music, reading, genealogy, and planting trees and shrubs, serving as a volunteer at a local nursery until his early 80’s. Bob was a veteran of the US Army Corps of Engineers.  Relatives and friends are invited to his visitation the Gallaway and Crane Funeral Home, 101 South Finley Ave, Basking Ridge, NJ on Wednesday, January 29, 2014 from 12:00 - 2:00 PM with Internment immediately following at Somerset Hills Memorial Park, Basking Ridge, NJ.
