Obituary of Dorothy Marie Horsburgh

Dorothy M. (Wolsky) Horsburgh passed into loving hands of God on Monday, January 13, 2014 in Jackson, NJ surrounded by her loving family. Born in Newark, NJ in l916 to Joseph and Doris Wolsky, Dorothy was a lifelong resident of Bernardsville and Basking Ridge, prior to moving to Bridgewater, Toms River, and Jackson, NJ. As a young girl she worked along with her siblings on her parent’s farm in Basking Ridge, and as an adult, held various bookkeeping positions, the most recent in the Bridgewater Raritan School District. She enjoyed knitting, crocheting, gardening, her pets and observing wildlife. Dorothy was predeceased by her parents, her loving husband, Thomas A. Horsburgh who passsed in 1990, young daughter Jeannie, and her brothers Joseph and John Wolsky. She leaves behind her loving son James Horsburgh and wife Carole of Jackson, NJ; daughter Barbara Jenkins and husband Robert of Manahawkin, NJ, sisters Helen Hunter, Mary Montgomery, Alice Wolsky, brother Robert Wolsky and his wife Betty; as well as 8 grandchildren, 15 great grandchildren, and many nieces and nephews. Dorothy was a gentle, kind and loving woman; a devoted wife, Mom, sister, aunt, and grandmother who will be greatly missed by all of her family and friends. Our love eternal. Visitation will be held at Gallaway and Crane Funeral Home, 101 S. Finley Ave, Basking Ridge, NJ on Friday, January 17, 2014 from 2:00 – 4:00 PM & 6:00 – 8:00 PM. Funeral Mass will be held on Saturday, January 18, 2014 at St. James Church, 184 S. Finley Ave, Basking Ridge, NJ, 9:00 AM. Interment will follow at Holy Cross Cemetery, Basking Ridge. In lieu of flowers donations may be made in her memory to the American Cancer Society, P.O. Box 22718, Oklahoma City, OK 73123, and Meridan Hospice South, 80 Nautilus Dr, Manahawkin, NJ 08050.
