Obituary of Peter C Glazar

Peter C. Glazar, 71, of Basking Ridge, NJ died surrounded by loved ones in his home on Friday, December 27, 2013 following a protracted battle against soft tissue sarcoma. Son of the late Casimir “Ben” Glazar and Audrey Reiners Glazar, he was raised in Morris Plains and graduated from Morristown High School in 1960. He served in the U. S. Air Force and moved to Basking Ridge upon his marriage to Katherine Kocsis in 1965. Peter was a skilled craftsman, working as a carpenter for four decades at the Veterans Administration Hospital in Lyons until his retirement earlier this year. He was a lifetime member of the Basking Ridge Fire Company and a member of the American Motorcycle Association and Harley Owners Group. Friends and family will always remember Peter for his tough shell surrounding a soft heart. He enjoyed riding his motorcycle and gardening, he could build or repair almost anything, he cared deeply for animals and, more than anything, he loved his family. He is survived by his wife of 48 years, Katherine Kocsis Glazar, his son Christian and his wife Sarah, of Bernardsville; his daughter Amanda, of Basking Ridge, and his grandchildren Margaret and Ethan. He is also survived by his brothers, James, of Dripping Springs, TX, and John, of Pompton Lakes, NJ. A funeral Eucharist service will be held this Monday, December 30th at 4:00pm at St. Bernard's Episcopal Church, 88 Claremont Road, Bernardsville, NJ. In lieu of flowers the family has requested donations to the Basking Ridge Fire Company and First Aid Squad or to The Raptor Trust.
