Obituary of Margaret M. Longo
Margaret Mary Longo (Kling), 89, of Fellowship Village in Basking Ridge, formerly of Plainfield, passed away Sunday, May 9, 2010 at Morristown Memorial Hospital surrounded by her family. She was predeceased by her loving husband of 46 years, Charles Vincent Longo, who passed away in 1990. Born in Plainfield, she was the ninth of eleven children born to the late Charles and Stephanie (Gessler) Kling. She was a parishioner of St. James Roman Catholic Church in Basking Ridge and a long time parishioner of St. Mary's Roman Catholic Church in Plainfield.
Margaret was raised in a large and loving family in Plainfield where she attended St. Mary's School and Plainfield High School graduating in 1938. She worked in the office at Mack Truck in Plainfield prior to her marriage in 1944. Margaret was a warm and loving homemaker and care giver to her large family for the remainder of her life. She always put her family first and was ready to help on a moment's notice whenever and wherever she was needed. She was a loving wife, mother, grandmother and great-grandmother.
She is survived by her sons, Charles B. Longo and wife Jo Anne of Bethlehem, Pa, Edward R. Longo and wife Barbara of Bernardsville, Robert J. Longo and wife Cynthia of Cary, NC, Richard H. Longo of Annandale and Joseph V. Longo and wife Patricia of Whitehouse Station. Daughters, Stephanie C. Longo and husband Thomas Pavlik of Monument, CO and Karen Longo-Baldwin and her late husband (2010) Chris of Princeton. Sister, Frances Morrison of Fellowship Village in Basking Ridge. She is also survived by 17 grandchildren, 7 great grandchildren and many nieces and nephews.
Family and friends may call at the Gallaway & Crane Funeral Home, 101 South Finley Ave, Basking Ridge, NJ on Thursday, May 13, 2010 from 7-9PM and on Friday May 14, 2010 from 12:00 to 12:40PM. A Funeral Mass will be held of Friday May 14, 2010 at the Church of St, James, 184 South Finley Ave, Basking Ridge, NJ at 1:00 PM followed by interment at Hillside Cemetery in Scotch Plains, NJ. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to the Charles V. Longo Memorial Scholarship c/o The Rutgers University Foundation, Winants Hall, 7 College Avenue, New Brunswick, NJ 08901-1261.
