Obituary of Evelyn E Legband

Evelyn Beifus Legband, 91, departed quietly in the early morning hours of August 1st. She is survived by her children: Lynne, Fred, Lee, Eric, Celia, and Scott. She leaves also seven grandchildren and four great-grandchildren. Her husband of 61 years, Dr. Frederick T. Legband, died in 2002. Born in the Vailsburg section of Newark in 1921, Evelyn lived 58 happy years in Basking Ridge, investing her time and attention in her family, her ever-burgeoning yard, and her reading. Intrigued by language and words all her life, her chosen companions were books, gardening catalogs, and a crossword puzzle or three, always underway. For most of her years she could be spotted walking contentedly along the sidewalks to and from town. Services are private.
