Obituary of Rita M Koernig

Rita M. Koernig, 84, of Basking Ridge, NJ passed away on June 18, 2013. She was born and raised in Jersey City, NJ. Rita graduated from Snyder High School in Jersey City. After meeting and marrying the love of her life Fred, they lived in Union Beach before moving to Basking Ridge in 1962. Rita was predeceased by her loving husband of 60 years, Fred. Rita is survived by her children James Koernig and his wife Patricia of Basking Ridge, NJ; Mark Koernig and wife Dottie of Summit, NJ; Janice Stemple and her husband Michael of High Bridge, NJ; Amy Pochick and her husband Bill of Gillette, NJ, and 10 grandchildren, Kristin, Kevin, and Steven Koernig; Bob, Leslie Koernig Goetzl, and Emily Koernig; Jennifer Stemple Clemente, Brian, and Tim Stemple; and Kyle Pochick. Rita is also survived by her sisters Evelyn Brown and Doris Conlon. She is also predeceased by her granddaughter Joanna Marie Stemple, and two sisters Helen Cox and Anne Schreiber. Rita was an avid golfer, a member of several New Jersey golf clubs as well as clubs in Naples, Florida. Rita and her husband Fred enjoyed traveling and playing many courses throughout the United States. One of her greatest enjoyments in life was spending time with her family, hosting many holiday brunches and dinners surrounded by her husband, children, and grandchildren. Relatives and friends may visit on Thursday, June 20, 2013 from 2-4 and 6-8 at Gallaway and Crane Funeral Home, 101 S. Finley Avenue, Basking Ridge. Funeral Mass will be held on Friday, June 21, 2013 at St. James Church, 10:30 am, Basking Ridge. Interment will follow at Holy Cross cemetery.
