Obituary of Catherine J Bayne

Catherine J. Bayne of Basking Ridge was born in New York City. She was a longtime resident of Paterson and Toms River. She is survived by three children, Michael, (Toms River N. J.), Sharon Cepeda (Basking Ridge, N. J.) and Cathy Homeszyn (Farmington Hills, MI). She was adored by her beloved husband, "Joey" who predeceased her in 2001. Catherine is also predeceased by her sons Charles, Joseph and most recently, George. She will be greatly missed by her 13 grandchildren and 12 great grandchildren. Catherine was the matriarch of her ever-growing family and loved them unconditionally. Her world was a tapestry woven with her love of her children, grandchildren and great-grandchildren and was their biggest fan. She gave to others through her love of cooking, sewing and volunteering. Her parents immigrated to the United States from Ireland and England in the early 1900's which gave her a strong foundation of strength to endure all of life's challenges. She was magical and mischievous and always had a twinkle in her beautiful blue eyes. She lived through the Great Depression and knew the value of saving for what you want. She loved a mug of hot tea or a glass of white wine. She was a great conversationalist and loved to shop. She was always dressed to the nines. She was a dancer in her youth and could sing as beautifully as Judy Garland. She was our blessing and will be sadly missed by her family and friends. We thank God for giving her to us. Visitation services will be held at the Gallaway and Crane Funeral home, 9 Church Street in Bernardsville from 4pm-7pm on Monday, February 18, 2013. Funeral services will be held at St. James Roman Catholic Church at 184 South Finley Avenue, Basking Ridge at 9:30 a.m. on Tuesday, February 19, 2013.
