Obituary of Rudolph A Schober

SCHOBER, Rudolph A. - (89) was a resident of Fellowship Village in Basking Ridge NJ, formerly of Union, NJ, passed away on Saturday January 19, 2013. Rudy was born in Tamm Germany and came to the US when he was a young child. He was a Certified Public Accountant and Registered Municipal Accountant and earned his Masters of Business Administration and Bachelor of Science in Accounting from Rutgers University. He worked for over thirty years as a NJ School Business Administrator and Board of Education Secretary. He was a member of the Gideons International for over forty years helping this organization distribute Bibles and the gospel of Jesus Christ to millions around the world. He was also a member of the Evangelistic Committee of Newark in the 1960s and was a founding board member of the World Impact Christian School in Newark, NJ and served as an advisory board member there for over forty years. The World Impact schools have been a safe and welcoming educational haven for thousands of urban children and are located in several large inner city neighborhoods. They offer alternative learning opportunities and seek to develop the physical, intellectual and spiritual aspects of young lives. He was an active member of the First Baptist Church in Union, NJ were he served as a Sunday School teacher, deacon, elder, church moderator, and spiritual mentor for over fifty years. He began his career as a municipal accountant and in the early 1950's he was hired by the Union Township NJ School Board and managed several new school construction programs, novel school integration and transportation initiatives and a variety of school district business matters. In 1976 he moved to a similar position with the Summit NJ School District and retired in 1982. He continued in private practice as an estate and trust administrator and accountant and remained active in this endeavor until 2012. Rudy is survived by his loving wife of 64 years, Marilyn and his four devoted children and their spouses Ronald and Nadine Schober, Mark and Bonnie Schober, Kathryn and Richard Oliver, and Carol and Fritz Policelli as well as nine grand children. He is also survived by his sister Claire Potosky and her husband Stephen. The visitation will be from 2-4PM and from 6 to 8 PM on Thursday January 24, 2013 at the Gallaway- Crane Funeral Home at 101 South Finley Avenue in Basking Ridge, NJ. A funeral service will be held at 10AM on Friday January 25, 2013 in the First Baptist Church - 525 Thoreau Terrace (and Colonial Avenue) Union, NJ. Interment will follow at the Hollywood Cemeteries in Union, NJ.
