Obituary of Lynne E Cross

Lynne Legband Cross, age 82, passed away peacefully with family nearby on December 2nd, 2024 after many years of battling Alzheimer’s disease. She was born September 4, 1942 in Newark, New Jersey to Dr. Frederick and Evelyn Legband, the first of six children. 

Lynne spent much of her life in Basking Ridge, New Jersey, graduating from Bernards High School and Fairleigh Dickinson University, before traveling to Germany to marry Thomas Cross and enjoy several years working on the army base while exploring Europe. 

Upon her return, Lynne was a stay at home mom, then returned to work outside of the home as a secretary in the local school system and as the office administrator of Cross Construction.  

Lynne enjoyed many good conversations over coffee and tea with friends and family at her kitchen table.  She had a talent for cooking and baking, and was an avid reader. Her badminton serve struck fear into the hearts of her family.  Lynne also enjoyed walking with her dogs and time at the beach with her kids and grandchildren.  

Lynne is survived by her daughter Jennifer Cross Stackhouse and son-in-law Robert, son Scott Cross and daughter-in-lawTracy, grandchildren Madeline, Harrison and Viviane Stackhouse and Tucker Cross and husband of 59 years Thomas E. Cross, Jr. She is also survived by her brothers Fred, Lee, Eric and Scott Legband and sister Celia Legband Hawley.  

Please join us in celebrating Lynne’s life Saturday January 18, 2025, at 11:30AM at St. Luke’s Episcopal church in Peapack Gladstone, NJ. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the Alzheimer’s Association.
