Obituary of Cynthia Crouch
Cindy Crouch, of Basking Ridge, New Jersey, passed away on Thursday, November 14, 2024 at the age of 79.
Cindy was a loving mother, grandmother and cherished family member. She bravely battled cancer for more than a year and a half. She passed peacefully at the Center of Hope Hospice.
Cindy was born in Los Angeles, CA, to Charles and Peggy Hutton on January 30, 1945. She graduated from the University of California, Santa Barbara with a degree in elementary education. She moved to Selma, AL with her ex-spouse and worked as a math teacher. Eventually they moved to Sunnyvale, CA to be closer to her parents. She loved to call herself bi-coastal as they moved to Basking Ridge, NJ in 1980, back to Sunnyvale in 1982 and finally back to Basking Ridge in 1983.
Cindy found her calling when she became a travel agent in 2000. She kept a list of all the trips she took with co-workers, friends and family. The total is well over 100. Some of her favorites were Turkey, Egypt, Israel, Costa Rica, Galapagos, Vietnam and China where she got to feed the pandas. She truly loved all of her clients and spent so many hours to make sure they would have the best vacations.
Cindy's true love though was her 2 grandchildren, Katie and Jake. To them she was known as Ganny. They were her pride and joy and she was lucky to live in the same town as them. She never missed any of their games: soccer, lacrosse, basketball and football. Always cheering them on and being their biggest fan. Cindy, her daughter and grandkids loved to take long weekend trips: Toronto, NFL and MLB hall of fame, Clemson, Washington DC and so many others. In 2017 Katie was diagnosed with Ewing's Sarcoma and Cindy moved in with her daughter and family to help. Watching Katie battle cancer was very hard on Cindy but she was lucky to have the support of her friends.
Cindy was a great friend to so many. Always a smile on her face and lots and lots of talking.
The family expresses gratitude to everyone who has offered support during this difficult time. Cindy will be deeply missed but forever remembered for the love she shared with those whose lives she touched.
Her favorite quote was "I love you more than tongue can tell."
Cindy is survived by her daughter, Kim King, her husband Dan and her 2 grandchildren, Katie King and Jake King.
Visitation will be held on Thursday, November 21, 2024 from 4:00 - 7:00 pm at Gallaway & Crane Funeral Home, 101 S. Finley Ave, Basking Ridge, NJ.
In lieu of flowers, the family kindly requests donations to the Katie's Krew Foundation PO Box 413 Basking Ridge, NJ 07920.
