Rose Kathleen (Palmieri) Portela, age 82 of Basking Ridge NJ, passed away peacefully on October 3, 2024 at Bridgeway Care and Rehabilitation Center in Bridgewater, NJ. One of eight children, Rose was born in Newark NJ to Michael and Marie Palmieri on August 11, 1942. She resided in Woodbridge NJ for over 40 years where she raised her family. Rose was the loving mother of sons Brian, Troy (wife Tara) and John (wife Kandi) and grandchildren Alexander, Sofia, Antonio and Natalie. Rose is also survived by her sister Jean (husband Brian) of Florida, sister Loretta of North Carolina, brother Carmine (wife Marie) of NJ, and many nieces and nephews.

Rose was a loving and devoted mother and grandmother who lived a full life with unwavering Faith, perseverance, and gratitude. Her greatest joy in life was being with her family, whom she cherished. Rose was a guiding light that never dimmed, and a source of wisdom and strength for her children through the years. She loved and adored her grandchildren beyond words and was incredibly proud of them. Some of our most precious memories are the many gatherings when Rose brought together family and friends for her legendary Italian meals - she filled our tummies with indescribably delicious food, raised the roof with laughter and filled our hearts with joy.

Visitation will be held on Saturday, October 5, 2024 at Gallaway & Crane Funeral Home, 101 S. Finley Ave, Basking Ridge, NJ 07920 from 9:00 - 11:00am. Funeral Service will follow at 11:00am at the funeral home. Burial will be at Gate of Heaven Cemetery, East Hanover.
