Obituary of Mary Rose Neff
Mary Rose Neff, age 90, passed away on September 28th. She was born in Long Branch, NJ and lived in Bernardsville most of her life.
Mary Rose was a graduate of St. Johns Academy, and the College of St. Elizabeth. She later received National Science Foundation grants to pursue studies at Syracuse University where she received a Master’s degree.
She went on to conduct research with her mentor at the Marine Biological Labs at Woods Hole, MA resulting in the publication of several research papers. She later attended Monmouth College, Seton Hall University and Drew University to earn additional teaching and administrative certifications.
Mary Rose went on to a fulfilling career teaching biology, first at Holy Trinity High School for five years and then Summit High School for 25 years, the last 20 years as the Science Department Chair.
Mary Rose is predeceased by her parents, Bridget and Edward Neff, and her beloved sister, Patricia in 2010. She leaves behind many cousins and beloved friends.
Mary Rosę belonged to Our Lady of Perpetual Help Church in Bernardsville and she will be laid to rest at Holy Cross Cemetery, Basking Ridge in a private ceremony.
