In Loving Memory of Kathryn (Potocek) Zahos: A Cherished Mother, Grandmother, Sister and Friend

Kathryn Zahos, whose heart overflowed with love and warmth, peacefully departed this world on the morning of September 15, 2024, surrounded by her adoring family. Born on August 18, 1944, in Pittston, Pennsylvania, Kathryn's formative years were spent in the vibrant community of Cateret, New Jersey.

Kathryn's life truly blossomed when she married her former husband George Zahos, and together they built a home in Basking Ridge, New Jersey. It was here that Kathryn poured her heart into her family, creating a haven of love and nurturing that was the soul of their lives. As a devoted homemaker, she wove a tapestry of warmth and care that bound her family together.

She is lovingly remembered by her sister Patricia, her devoted children Tom and Tammy, and her eight treasured grandchildren: Amanda, Tommy, Nick, Ryan, Matthew, Michael, Daniel, and George. The joy of her life, her great-granddaughter Charlotte, brought an extra sparkle to her eyes.

Kathryn embraced her role as “Yaya” with boundless joy and affection. Her grandchildren eagerly anticipated each visit, knowing they would be met with loving hugs, the perfect card for every special occasion, and the delight of finding a few dollars discreetly tucked into their pockets. Her generosity extended to each of the family’s dog as well, ensuring they were always well-fed during her visits.

Kathryn’s legacy is one of pure, unconditional love. Her unwavering support, her infectious laughter, and her warm embrace will be profoundly missed by all who had the honor of knowing her. She was a pillar of strength, a wellspring of affection, and a guiding light to her family.

Visitation will be held on Friday, September 20, 2024 at Gallaway & Crane Funeral Home, 101 S. Finley Ave, Basking Ridge, NJ from 4:00 - 7:00 pm. Funeral Service will be held on Saturday, September 21, 2024, at 10:00am at Liberty Corner Presbyterian Church, 45 Church Street, Liberty Corner, NJ.
